Nature Now

YOU ARE

NATURE

It’s up to us.

You have a role to play.

A Timely and Enduring Reminder

I am Nature. You are Nature. We are not separate, but part of the entire living system on this Planet. But it’s easy to forget that, in the busy-ness of our lives. At Nature Now, we hope to be a resource for you, to allow enlightenment and a new way of thinking about Nature, including the actions you could take to protect and promote Her. Importantly, we hope to help you more fully understand our place and responsibility to act – with and in support of Nature. Her well-being is our well-being.

We can start by reacquainting ourselves with the natural world around us. It’s an important first step towards becoming more attuned to our place in the world, and it can also have real benefits to our physical and mental health.

Nature Now is dedicated to creating awareness and educating as many people as possible to truly change how we talk about and care for Nature. She sustains and supports all we do, all we care for. Nature Now invites you to subscribe, tell your friends and neighbours, and join together on the journey towards a closer and more positive relationship with Nature. If you support what we do, please also consider donating to our efforts.

Nature is responsible for us. We are responsible for Nature. And She needs our attention now. It’s up to us.

Did you know that across the planet many creatures are in decline? “But I can see plenty of creatures out there!” you might say.
The World Wildlife Fund’s recent Living Planet Report 2022 found that monitored animal populations spanning mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish (vertebrates) have decreased by an average of 69% since 1970.
Sometimes we cannot always see the changes occurring around us and we need to rethink how we see our world. Yes, there may be a lot of raccoons in your yard or sparrows in the park, but there’s a lot we never see. We need to look closer and reconsider our place in Nature. After all, you are Nature too. We all know trees play a critical role in Nature. But, did you know that Canada accounts for about 30% of the world’s total trees?
That equals about 318 billion trees!
And, last year, in 2023, we saw 5% of them lost to record-breaking forest fires nationwide. That’s around 15 billion trees lost to fire over an area roughly the size of Greece.
Trees are life. Trees are Nature. You are Nature. Isn’t it time we started looking at the planet in a new way, for all creatures, including humans? Learn more here.

Did you know?

You are Nature. This is how.

If you treasure humanity, then you treasure Nature because we are one and the same. You are Nature. Let us count the ways.

Nature is within you.

You are a universe to trillions of other lives. Ten times as many microorganisms live just in your gut as you have cells in your whole body.
